[TR] State of the Pups

I feel that I did pretty well this month, for as unmotivated I've been in real life. I think I'm doing pretty well at finding what works for me in regards to how many threads I can maintain at a time (the magic number seems to be around 10), I have a handful of outstanding tags that I've been slogging through but most of them seem to be coming to a close.
July is going to be a little hectic for me -- I'm aiming on bringing a new pup at the beginning of the month, Neal may be having some Big Life Changes happening, and I'll be out of town from July 12 through the 16. I'll be at a music festival in Kentucky and will have some internet access (free WiFi in common areas of the hotel, plus my phone) but may be too burnt out to tag.
Also, none of mine are going into Amnesia Plot -- I don't think that many of them would benefit much from it -- but I'll be around for any thread requests for amnesia-ed pups, if desired.
Nick Stokes
Kind of a slow month for Nick. I'm enjoying the conversations he's having at the gathering post for the fearplot discussions and hope to keep him involved in posts like that until he realizes that he too is being affected by fearplot. I think it's entirely plausible that he may not really make the connection until it's too late, so to speak. It falls into the category of, 'well, it happens to other people but not me'. He can rationalize all sorts of reasons as to why he's starting to feel more anxious and have flashbacks to what happened to him immediately pre-island, especially if I pair it with him spending some time catching up on what's going on for him back in Vegas. Poor baby.
Coming up: Fearplot. FFFF I still haven't started this. I keep punting stuff forward for him because my other pups take over. Perhaps the back half of the month will finally see him start his fearplot and the Watching New CSI Episodes EP. I'd also like to do a post with the people in his class, perhaps I will devise a final exam or something like that.
Severus Snape
So Snape is going to find out about Past Island!Snape, and the fact that he got himself hitched with Regulus. (This is mostly a reminder to myself that I need to start that post for Anita.) I am not sure how he's going to feel about this -- while my old Snape had a backstory that I crafted that involved a longstanding something-or-other with Regulus, I think that I may not necessarily want to re-create the same backstory for this Snape (no matter how much I love me some Snape/Regulus).
Other than that, I am just enjoying playing him off people as he is the rude, arrogant bastard that we all know and love. I enjoy the fact that most people here just keep going and treat him as if he isn't a complete shit most of the time. And anyone who he finds fascinating enough to maintain a conversation with is pretty much getting the equivalent of a gold star. So, go you!
Neal Caffrey

Neal. Neal Neal Neal. I effing love Neal Caffrey. Every one of his threads on his last EP was a gem, as he feigned complete ignorance at how to do much other than draw stick figures and really disproportionate things -- sometimes with more success than others. He's a con, and he's always going to ping on the radars of other people who are attuned to Folks Like Him.
Neal may have some Big Things occuring in his life soon, so now is the time to get in any threads with him before things go a bit topsy-turvy. He won't be getting an EP, so I'll be looking for private threads and tag-ins to keep him occupied.
Additionally, the new season of White Collar starts in July. While I'm not thinking of canon puncturing him any time soon, I know that S4 is supposed to reveal a little more about Neal's past, and resolve some loose ends in that part of his life. I'll be watching the season with an eye towards potential items that could fill him in on what he's been missing, or resolve plots that have been left dangling. Also, if there are any of my pups who could benefit from a time loop, I think Neal would be a prime candidate. That's far off in the future, though.

So, I read Code Name Verity, Sarah brought Julie, and I promptly rejiggered my entire queue to bring Maddie. Her app is mostly done, I just need to finish the personality and pick a debut point. I can't really talk much about her because of spoilers, but I am super excited for her to wind up on the island and be reunited with her BFF. ALL THE TEARS IN ADVANCE. She is a pilot and a bit of a bad-ass herself, though very modest about it, and I look forward to her getting to know the many bad-ass ladies on the island. (Also, if anyone wants to read over the app for me when I've finished -- probably this weekend -- that would be awesome.)
Georgia Mason
I still fully intend on bringing George (fron Mira Grant's Newsflesh trilogy) to the island, as well -- she was supposed to be my July app until Maddie happened. Now, she probably won't come until October at the earliest, as I know I'll need more than two months to get Maddie on her feet and feel comfortable enough to be able to manage a fifth pup. (I'll also want to reread Blackout, which is where I'll be taking her from.) DOES ANYONE HAVE A FEARPLOT INVOLVING ZOMBIES? That may help me decide if I push for October, or wait until November. Also, ATTN: UNIVERSE, BRING ME ONE SHAUN MASON, STAT. George will work well enough on her own on the island but it would be super cool if she got her awesome brother, too. I am pretty sure that I have her debut point worked out, and the app is almost entirely done, all that I had left was the personality and debut.
And then after that... we will see how I hold up with six pups. I feel like if they're the right six pups, that I'll be okay. I really love my roster as it is now -- I think I have a good mix of personalities, different needs, experiences, etc.
On the To Be Considered Further list:
* Brandon from Shame, still, always, because I feel like I could do some fascinating stuff with him and his issues. I've wanted to bring him since I saw the movie, and have bits and pieces of an app worked out, but I keep bumping him for other pups that have more immediate needs.
* Matthew Swift, from Kate Griffin's urban fantasy series set in contemporary London. I'm only partly through one of the books in the series -- a series which I inadvertantly started reading out of order -- and am already kind of fascinated by him and his backstory and his narrative style.
